Vendors, grounds workers, farmers and other early birds have enjoyed made-to-order hot breakfasts here for decades. That was until the state experimented with an day fair in that opened at 11 a. Heck, by the time people arrived at State Fair Boulevard, it was time for sausage sandwiches and deep-fried stuff.

We need something that will soothe our tummies and clear our heads from all we ingested the day before. I could make breakfast all day long.

Mine was the eighth of the day. I ordered the steak rare, eggs over easy and wheat toast. Oh, and hot sauce for the taters. Children under 12 are free every day, and those 65 and older get free admission. The Fair does not accept cash at the gates. Buy tickets in advance on etix or use a a credit card at a nearby kiosk.

That list too goes on and on too. We watched a joust, rode a camel, got a henna tattoo, ate the largest funnel cake of my life, and I got a sunflower dipped in candle wax which should last many, many years. I loved the experience and my family and I will most certainly be returning next year for more fun.
